Celebrating 50 Years of Manurewa Potters Club
Manurewa Potters Club (MPC) are delighted to be celebrating our 50th year of potting together with and exhibition hosted by the Franklin Arts Centre in Pukekohe.

Our exhibition will open on Thursday 27th March until Wednesday 16th April.

9 Oct 1974 | First meeting, in Veronica Massey’s workshop on Massey Rd. It was attended by 16 people. |
July 1975 | Fund raising had raised enough money for the downpayment on the club’s first kiln. It was installed in Colleen Rhodes garage. |
1978 | Manukau City Council provided the group with a suitable space to meet at Nathan Homestead in Manurewa |
April 1978 | Dale Hunter purchased 7 pottery wheels to be installed at Nathan Homestead |
April 1981 | 3 day bus trip to Coromandel |
July 1988 | New kiln purchased for $3,000 |
Sep 1989 | Elements replaced on the old kiln |
Feb 1992 | Club subs raised to $15 after much debate! |
Oct 2003 | Cult couture entry made of pottery leaves and shells |
Jun 2024 | Club temporarily moved from our usual studio space to a temporary space behind the Nathan Homestead Theatre while the Homestead undergoes earthquake strengthening |
9 Oct 2024 | Club celebrated 50 year anniversary with a group lunch |
Mar 2025 | 50th anniversary exhibition at the Franklin Arts Centre in Pukekohe |
