I offer a diverse range of wet felting classes, all of the classes listed under the beginners tab are excellent starting points if you have never wet-felted before or wish to add a specific technique to your skillset. My intermediate and advanced classes require some previous felting experience:
Beginners – suitable for anyone who has never used wool fibres to make a piece of felt before and those with more experience who want to learn a specific technique such as nuno-felting, adding decorative fibres / prefelts, inserting magnetic clasps and using a resist to create a seamless, hollow 3D shape.
Intermediate / Advanced – you will be confident laying out wool over a resist and fulling your felt to get the shape or level of drape you want. Many of my intermediate classes focus on making elements of the finished item separately and then attaching them to each other.
If you are interested in an intermediate or advanced level class but unsure if you have the experience / knowledge required, please contact me, I may be able to adapt the class for you or direct you to some online tutorials to practice before the workshop.
Is there a technique you have always wanted to learn or have you seen something online that you would like to make but don’t know how, drop me a line, I may be able to add a class for you next term.
Private Classes:
Do you have a group of 3-10 people who would like to use wool to make a felted item? The prices of each “in-person” class includes hire of the workshop space, if you have access to a suitable room I will be able to offer a discount on those prices. Each participant will need at least 1m x 1m of table space for most projects (please note scarves and larger felt pieces require 2m x 1m of space) and we will need easy access to a sink and very hot water. Please contact me for more information and to discuss which items you might like to make.
Online classes – learn to felt when and where it suits you:
Don’t live in New Zealand but want to take one of my classes? No problem! My online classes are available through the Felting and Fiber Studio Forum and run for 6 weeks in July and August each year. These classes are delivered by PDF tutorials and a private online forum where you can ask questions, share photos of what you are working on and chat with other students. The class forum is open 24-7 so you can work at your own pace and times that suit you and your time-zone, you don’t need to be online at specific times. More information about each class can be found here:
To register your interest in any of the online classes please complete the contact form, indicating which class(es) you are interested in and you will receive an email reminder a few days before registration opens.
